Delete your EligMe account

Last updated: August 2026. You can delete your EligMe account yourself, at any time, from inside the app. You do not need to email us for permission and there is no waiting period.

How to delete your account

Deleting your account takes about a minute and happens straight away.

  1. Sign in to EligMe.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Go to Danger Zone.
  4. Choose Delete account.
  5. Type DELETE to confirm.
  6. Your account and associated personal data are deleted immediately.

Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. We do not keep a copy of your account that could be restored later, so if you want to use EligMe again you will need to start a new account and re-enter your eligibility details.

If you cannot sign in

If you have lost access to your account and cannot complete the steps above, email hello@eligme.com from the email address associated with the account and we will help you delete it. We ask you to write from the registered address because it is how we confirm the request is really yours.

What is deleted

Choosing Delete account removes everything EligMe holds about you. All of the following are deleted together, as a single operation:

  • Your account and profile information, including your name, email address and the eligibility details you entered such as date of birth, gender, category and home state.
  • Your saved opportunities.
  • Your preferences, including exam and category interests and your notification settings.
  • Your qualifications.
  • Your certifications.
  • Your push notification subscriptions, so your devices stop receiving alerts.
  • Your alerts and in-app notifications, including which ones you had read.
  • The eligibility and matching records that connect you to specific opportunities.
  • Your sign-in data, including any linked Google sign-in and every active session on every device.

These are removed in one step. If any part of the deletion cannot complete, none of it is applied, so your account is never left half-deleted.

What is not deleted

Once your account is deleted, EligMe holds no information that identifies you. Two things remain, and neither is personal data about you:

  • Opportunity listings. The job, exam, recruitment and scholarship notices EligMe publishes are collected from official government sources. They exist independently of any account, are the same for everyone, and contain nothing about you. Deleting your account removes your matches to these notices, not the notices themselves.
  • Administrative audit records. EligMe keeps a security log of actions taken by its own administrators, such as approving or editing a published notice. Ordinary use of EligMe does not create these records, and deleting your account does not create one. They therefore contain no information about people who use EligMe.

There is one narrow exception worth stating plainly. If you were an EligMe administrator, the audit records of the administrative actions you took continue to identify you as the administrator who took them, because an audit log that could be erased by its own subject would not be a meaningful safeguard. This applies only to EligMe staff accounts, not to people using the app.

Timing and retention

Your account: deleted immediately once you confirm. There is no grace period, no queue and no review step, and nothing is retained afterwards for later deletion.

Opportunity listings: retained for as long as EligMe operates, because they are public government notices rather than personal data.

Administrative audit records: retained for legitimate security and audit purposes. EligMe does not set a fixed expiry for them, so we do not quote a period we would not keep to.

Backups of the underlying database are managed by our hosting provider on their own schedule and are used only to recover from failure, never to restore an individual deleted account.
